Less than five miles from Bar Harbor, beachgoers access Acadia's only sandy ocean beach via the Park Loop Road. Sand Beach Here, summer visitors sunbathe and cool off in waters that rarely exceed 55 degrees. The Great Head Trail begins on the far side of this 290-yard beach and offers iconic views of the Beehive, one of the park's premier hiking destinations.
