Official Travel Stamp Decal
Towering 1,400 feet above the valley floor, Pilot Mountain served as a guide to indigenous peoples and explorers in the Piedmont Plateau. Native Saura Indians called it “Jomeokee” to mean “Pilot” or “Great Guide.” The nearly 4,000-acre park includes Big Pinnacle and Little Pinnacle, a five-mile woodland corridor, and a stretch of the Yadkin River popular for catching sunfish, crappie, and catfish.
