This 75-foot water tower is set on a dramatic 10° lean to yank eyes off I-40. Around 1980, Ralph Britten bought the tank and hauled it to his truck stop near Groom, Texas. Obviously not up to code, Ralph used it as an ad-sized sculpture, painting “Britten USA” across its side. An electrical fire later ended the truck stop’s run, but this tilted tower still stands as a Route 66 pull-off classic.
