The rocky intertidal area, also known as the tidepools, is one of the best protected in California. Visitors flock here to get an up-close view of the critters caught in the rocky depressions of the high, middle, and low intertidal zones. Late fall and winter bring outstanding low tides during the park’s operating hours and is the best time to visit.
