Built in just 11 months and opened in 1888, this Victorian beachfront icon was once billed as the world’s largest resort hotel. It is still among the largest wooden buildings in the United States, as well as a National Historic Landmark. Its Crown Room features a sugar-pine ceiling pegged and glued—no nails. It also famously played the “Seminole Ritz” in the 1958 classic, Some Like It Hot.
