Modeled from the famous photograph of a sailor and a dental assistant kissing during the 1945 V-J Day celebrations in Times Square, the Unconditional Surrender statue greets visitors to a ship that saw almost five decades of service. In addition to its tours, exhibits and theater presentation, the museum offers rare opportunities to sit in the cockpits of restored aircraft.
