Planning a trip? Check out the Black Hills National Forest website.
Formerly known as Harney Peak, this Black Hills mountain is crowned with a fire lookout tower built by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the 1930s. Panoramic views from the stone structure extend into three neighboring states. Several hiking trails ascend this 7,242-foot peak renamed in honor of an Oglala Lakota holy man.
