The park’s namesake is a spectacular 729-foot waterfall, one of the tallest east of the Mississippi River. The top of the cascades is accessible by road and hiking trail, the bottom by trail only. The walk in between includes a staircase of more than 600 steps. Visitors to this park near the southern terminus of the Appalachian Trail enjoy mountain scenery and overnight accommodations.
