Early pioneers built a settlement near the confluence of the Nolichucky River and Big Limestone Creek. In 1786, this area of forested limestone bluffs and meadows celebrated the birth of David Crockett, a future soldier and Congressman. A replica homestead, museum, and exhibits honor Crockett and depict life on the frontier.
