Winding through the Hiwassee River Gorge and the scenic Cherokee National Forest, the waters of this river range from flatwater to Class III rapids. This stocked trout fishery is ideal for fishers and great blue herons hunting along the rocks. Birders recorded over 100 unique species in the area including great blue herons and bald eagles.
