Planning a trip? Check out Visit Amarillo.
A roadside public art installation along Route 66 features a line of 10 Cadillacs half-buried, nose first. Born out of a partnership between art group Ant Farm and Amarillo’s own Stanley Marsh 3 in 1974, it is an architectural tribute to the evolving design of tail fins. Travelers took pieces of the cars as souvenirs and visitors today can spray paint their own designs on the mangled, remaining frames.
