In 1887, the Goodnights built a two-story Victorian home for their new venture, the Goodnight-Thayer Cattle Company. Charles was an innovator, entrepreneur, and true cowboy while Mary Ann served as an educator, doctor, and mother to the community. Together they helped preserve the American bison and shape Texas Panhandle culture.
