In Adrian, Texas, a painted stripe and marker on old U.S. 66 mark the “geo-mathematical” halfway point: 1,139 miles to Chicago and 1,139 to Los Angeles. The town’s popular slogan is, “When you’re here, you’re halfway there.” Across the road, a 1928 café famous for “ugly crust” pie was visited by Pixar researchers in 2001. The owner of the café later inspired Flo in the movie “Cars”.
