From the safety of a boardwalk, visitors view the steaming pools, boiling mud pots and hissing steam vents in Bumpass Hell, the premier geothermal wonder in this California wilderness. The park is also home to Lassen Peak, the southernmost active volcano in the Cascade Range. The volcano famously erupted in 1915, launching ash more than 30,000 feet into the sky.
