Planning a trip? Check out the George Washington Birthplace National Monument website.
In 1732, America’s first president began life on his father’s tobacco farm. Once Popes Creek Plantation, today a Memorial House and recreated colonial farm complex commemorate Washington’s birthplace in Northern Virginia. Visitors can hike, bike, and fish from 550 acres of grounds and pay respects at the family burial ground.
