On the edge of Washington, D.C., in the Potomac River is an island that pays homage to the 26th President of the United States, Theodore Roosevelt. Within is Memorial Plaza and a mature woodland sanctuary developed by Frederick Law Olmsted, Jr. and the Civilian Conservation Corps. The island’s nature trails and florishing native flora and fauna are a living legacy of our Conservation President.
