This unique hike-in site played a pivotal role in the 19th century conflict between U.S. soldiers and Apache warriors like Geronimo and Chief Cochise. The 1.5-mile trail to the visitor center passes remains of the Butterfield Overland Stage Station, the post cemetery, the 1862 Apache Pass battle site, Apache Spring and fort ruins.
