From Memorial Day into October, two metal cables assist hikers on the final 400-foot climb to the top of this iconic landform. Permits are required for the thrilling, physically demanding ascent. Successful summiters marvel at the spectacular views of waterfalls, rugged Sierra Nevada peaks and the fabled Yosemite Valley, 4,800 feet below.
