Planning a visit? Check out the Alaska State Capitol website.
Completed 28 years before statehood, this six-story brick-faced building originally served as a territorial and federal building. Upon statehood, Juneau became the only state capital bordering a foreign nation, and the Capitol transitioned into the home of the State Legislature and Governor. Native marble, paintings, and photographs depict the history and traditions of “The Last Frontier.”
