This museum opened in 1972 as the world’s first public structure based on Apollo-era moon-base concepts. It is designed to resemble a futuristic lunar outpost. The large collection here includes an Apollo 11 Moon rock, original spacesuits, and aircraft flown by Neil Armstrong. The highlight of the museum is Armstrong’s Gemini VIII capsule, used during 1966’s first crewed docking in orbit.
