Founded on Christmas Eve in 1741, this historic town proudly embraces its yuletide identity with German-style Christkindlmärkte, nightly candlelit tours, and a glowing 91-foot star crowning the mountain ridge. Its nickname became official in 1937 as a beacon of Christmas spirit during the Great Depression. Today, families from across the country come to soak in the old-world holiday charm.
