Rectangular in shape and built of marble and granite, the high point of this National Historic Landmark is the gold-leaf dome rising 257 feet above ground level and surrounded by 12 statues representing various industries. Completed in a High Victorian Gothic style in 1878, it overlooks Bushnell Park and serves as the workplace of the legislative and executive branches of government.
