In the 1930s, William Keys blasted an opening in the rocks that blocked his cattle’s access to grazing in this desert valley. Today, hikers walking a mile-long nature trail loop enter through his passage. Along the way, they admire Joshua tree cactus, wildlife and huge boulder piles that attract rock climbers and scramblers.
