Connected to the mainland by the Silver Strand, this resort city has sunny beaches and yacht basins alongside a working military town. Its iconic 1888 beachfront Hotel del Coronado is even designated a National Historic Landmark. The many beaches here are among the widest in Southern California. At its north end, the naval air station is recognized as the “Birthplace of Naval Aviation.”
