First switched on in 1926, the Harbor of Refuge Lighthouse stands sentinel where Delaware Bay meets the Atlantic Ocean. The unmanned facility is the only light still operating on the southern coast of the second-smallest state. These stately coastal beacons conjure images of old-time sailing ships, rugged mariners, howling coastal storms and danger at sea.
