This château-style estate in Pennsylvania was the birthplace of America’s conservation movement. It was also once home to the first chief of the U.S. Forest Service. Completed in 1886, its Italianate gardens and ornate rooms have hosted dialogue that shaped national forest policy, forwarding both land stewardship and activism.
