This limestone show cave discovered in 1859 is the second-oldest in Central Kentucky and the fourth-oldest operating commercial cave in the U.S. Pathways laid out in the 1920s still carry visitors through a wet, still-growing underground system. Among its standout formations are translucent draperies called cave bacon, striped by mineral shifts as calcite painstakingly forms layer by layer.
