A decisive victory ended the Creek Indian War on March 27, 1814. Over 3,000 U.S. and allied forces led by General Andrew Jackson battled 1,000 of Chief Menawa’s Upper Creek Red Sticks along the Tallapoosa River. The ensuing Treaty of Fort Jackson forced the Creek Nation to cede 23 million acres of land and enabled continued settlement.
