Hot Springs’ fabled spring water makes a 4,000-year journey through the earth before it resurfaces at one of the park’s spring openings. Melted precipitation percolates to depths great enough to heat the water to the average 143-degree-F temperature collected in park reservoirs. The water is dispensed to commercial bath facilities inside and outside the park.
