On Sept. 4, 1957, public school desegregation was put to the test by African-American teenagers – the Little Rock Nine. Several days after they were met with violent protests at the formerly all-white school, the youngsters were escorted to class by U.S. soldiers. Their story is told by visitor center exhibits, videos and guided school tours.
