Crossing about 410 miles, this highway earned the nickname “Loneliest Road in America” for its vast distances, sparse development, and open desert horizons. Much of the route follows historic Pony Express, Overland Stage, and Lincoln Highway corridors. Along the way are the Great Basin’s largest single dune and hundreds of ancient petroglyphs preserved for more than 8,000 years.
