Driven by the Industrial Revolution and the rise of textile mills, Lowell’s transition to manufacturing relied on the labor of immigrants and women. These workers, the textile process, and growth in technology are chronicled in exhibits in several sites. The Boott Cotton Mills Museum is a living recreation with 88 Draper Model E looms.
