This fighter defined U.S. naval air superiority for over 25 years. With its variable-sweep wings and advanced tracking systems, it could engage six targets at once from nearly 200 miles away. It was deployed in 1975 and later took on strike and reconnaissance roles. After decades of dominance, its last combat mission flew over Iraq in 2006.
