First delivered in 1961, this supersonic interceptor became one of the globe’s most widely used fighters. It evolved into a multi-role workhorse used by the Navy, Air Force, and allies worldwide. They proved lethal in Vietnam during air combat and strike missions, downing 36 MiGs. Its service ended in 1992 with an imposing 31-year career.
