Founded in 1845 by German settlers, this town between Austin and San Antonio blends German ancestry and Texas charm. Its annual Wurstfest celebrates this heritage with beer, bratwurst, and Bavarian music. The town’s motto, "Ist Das Leben Schön” is German for "Life is Beautiful.” Each summer, thousands flock here to float down the Comal River – one of the shortest navigable rivers in the world.
