This Route 66 landmark at Kachina Point began in 1924 as the Stone Tree House. For over a decade, it provided lodging, meals, and souvenirs to motorists crossing Arizona’s Mother Road before federal acquisition in 1936. Now a museum beside the Painted Desert Rim Trail, it remains a gateway to the surrounding historic landscape.
