For centuries, Native Americans have come to this site to extract the pipestone carved into ceremonial smoking pipes. Carving demonstrations, museum exhibits and an educational film introduce visitors to the pipemaking practice. The paved Circle Trail leads through tallgrass prairie past Winnewissa Falls and quarries where tribal members still use hand tools to remove the red stone.
