Planning a trip? Check out the Pituamkek National Park Reserve website.
Established in 2024 as Canada’s 48th national park, this Island reserve protects one of Eastern Canada’s most significant coastal dune systems. Its Mi’kmaq name means “at the long sand dune,” reflecting thousands of years of Indigenous presence. Colonies of harbor seals haul out along remote sandbars tucked away beside some of Prince Edward Island’s last wild stretches of coast.
