The Coastal Miwok people first inhabited the Point Reyes Peninsula over 5,000 years ago. Historic village sites remain despite the passage of centuries of settlements and various industries. Miles of trails explore the coast, forests, grasslands, wilderness, and waterfalls, including a 13-mile round-trip hike to Alamere Falls. Critical habitats for both land and marine animals are protected within this area.
