This park preserves Civil War battlefields, fortifications and other properties that played roles in the epic struggles leading up to the fall of Richmond in 1865. Highlights include Cold Harbor, site of a bloody Union defeat, and museums located at the Tredegar Iron Works and the grounds of a Confederate military hospital.
