In January, 1813, British forces and their Native American allies soundly defeated American troops at this site. It was the greatest U.S. defeat in the War of 1812, and “Remember the Raisin” became a rallying cry for the duration of the conflict. The battle is interpreted in the
visitor center and along the trails through the grounds.
