In 1937, an unnamed sequoia, one of the Giant Forest’s largest, fell across Crescent Meadows Road. This popular park attraction was created when a 17-foot-wide tunnel was carved into the fallen trunk the following summer. Visitors in vehicles less than eight feet high can drive through. Taller cars and trucks take a bypass lane.
