Official Travel Stamp Decal
On February 17, 1865, General Sherman’s Union forces captured the capital city, catching this State House in the crossfire. Six bronze stars dot the exterior to show where cannonballs wrought havoc on this building of blue granite and white and pink marble. Completed in 1907 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Governor and General Assembly report here for work.
