Before Napa Valley became wine country, this land was part of a Mexican land grant whose name meant "human flesh." Today, the park’s 1846 gristmill still operates with a 36-foot waterwheel. Pioneer Cemetery and the site of the valley's first church also offer tangible connections to the people and landscapes that shaped Napa’s early history.
