This 45,000-ton lead Iowa-class battleship launched in 1942 and went by the nicknames “Mighty I,” “The Big Stick,” and “Battleship of Presidents” before her final decommissioning in 1990. During her service, she welcomed Presidents Roosevelt, H.W. Bush, and Reagan, and earned nine battle stars for service in World War II and the Korean War. Today she serves as a museum in the Port of Los Angeles.
