Linking tiny Livengood and the Arctic Ocean, this rugged route follows the Trans-Alaska pipeline 414 miles through remote forest, mountain, and tundra wilderness. A roadside sign announces the highway's crossing of the Arctic Circle, where the sun never sets on the summer solstice and never rises during December's winter solstice.
