Designed by local architect Albert Speiden, the Hopkins Candy Factory as it was originally known was built in 1907. Named for the man who owned it, the candy factory manufactured 5-10 tons of candy daily for shipment to distant markets. Later businesses to occupy this building included a flour mill and a tire warehouse. Today, the building houses a visual and performing arts center.
