Planning a trip? Check out the Fanthorp Inn at the Texas Historical Commission.
Built in 1834 by English immigrant Henry Fanthorp, Fanthorp Inn was originally a two-room cedar-log dogtrot cabin. The inn became a popular resting place for those traveling across the young Texas Republic, and by 1850 it had grown into a bustling 17-room complex. At its heyday, it was called the “finest inn in the south.”
