During World War II, approximately 120,000 Japanese Americans - 62% of whom were American citizens - were forced from their homes and incarcerated in ten camps across the United States. Manzanar held more than 11,000  of those people. Now, a National Historic Site, the Manzanar Annual Pilgrimage is held on the last Saturday of April.
