A carefully selected evergreen harvested in a different national forest each year is transported to the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol. It stands more than 60 feet tall, and when adorned with thousands of lights and ornaments – many made by children in the tree’s home state – it becomes one of America’s holiday season crown jewels.
